Two U.S. service members were killed Sunday in Iraq, the U.S. Department of Defense said Monday.

The soldiers were killed while “advising and accompanying Iraqi Security Forces during a mission to eliminate an ISIS terrorist stronghold,” the department said.

The soldiers’ names have not been released.

Iraqi lawmakers have voted to end the presence of all foreign troops after a U.S. airstrike killed Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani, whom the U.S. accused of carrying out terrorist attacks on Americans and hundreds of others throughout the region.
