State troopers speak with a driver on the scene of a pedestrian crash on the I-85 South ramp to Jonesboro Road on Friday morning.

A pedestrian was hit by several vehicles and killed Friday morning on an I-85 exit ramp in Union City.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a man was crossing the southbound ramp to Jonesboro Road about 4 a.m. when he was hit “several times.” He was not carrying ID and is unidentifiable, agency spokeswoman Franka Young said.

Amber Cooper said her boyfriend’s car was one of at least five that hit the man on the exit ramp.

“Once they stopped, they realized it was a person,” she told AJC.com from the scene.

An investigation shut down the ramp before authorities cleared the scene about 10:30 a.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. While drivers were routing around the closure to get into Union City, it had minimal impact to traffic on I-85.
