Multiple lanes of I-75 North in Cobb County are expected to close starting at 9 p.m. Monday, the Georgia Department of Transportation said.

Weather permitting, crews will close the area between Akers Mill Road and the I-75/I-285 Interchange to remove a concrete bridge deck from the bridge over I-75.

"This work will pave the way for the construction of a new Express Lanes bridge for the I-75 Northwest Corridor project,” the GDOT said.

According to the department, the Northwest Corridor project will add 29.7 miles of toll lanes along I-75 from Akers Mill to Hickory Grove roads, and along I-575 from the I-75 junction to Sixes Road.
