A motorist was killed early Monday in a collision with a truck at a Pickens County intersection, the Georgia State Patrol said.

According to the GSP, a Mack truck was turning left onto Ga. 515 southbound from Appalachian Court just before 5:30 a.m. when a 2010 Chevrolet Impala heading south on Ga. 515 struck the back of the truck.

The Impala driver, whose name was being withheld until relatives could be notified, was killed, according to the GSP.

The truck driver, 51-year-old Steve Allen Brown of Ranger, was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation, the GSP said.

The southbound lanes of Ga. 515 near Jasper were shut down for most of Monday’s morning commute.
