A woman had to be rescued from her car after she was caught in flooding near Northlake and Crescent Centre parkways in DeKalb County on Tuesday afternoon.

Tennille Conley told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that she was driving on I-285 when heavy rain started and she exited at Northlake Parkway.

She said after she turned toward Crescent Center Parkway, the water rose quickly.

“It took six minutes, maybe,” Conley said. “My car started floating.”

Conley said her car hit another car with a man inside. That man and Conley were both rescued, she said.

“My car just started drifting and this guy was swimming to my car,” Conley said.

Rush-hour traffic on the interstate was worsened by the heavy flooding near Henderson and Northlake roads. A HERO truck stopped to open a drain on the interstate, Georgia Department of Transportation cameras showed.
