A multivehicle crash on the Downtown Connector left a man dead Wednesday afternoon, Atlanta police said.

Officers responded to the wreck in the northbound lanes at North Avenue about 4 p.m., police spokesman Officer Anthony Grant said. The crash involved two sedans and a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the drivers of both sedans sustained injuries and were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, police said.

The motorcyclist was identified as 47-year-old Anthony McCutcheon of South Carolina, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office told AJC.com on Thursday afternoon.

Investigators are continuing to investigate the crash, Grant confirmed.

The fatal wreck caused heavy delays, and all but two lanes were closed until 7:50 p.m., the WSB 24-Hour Traffic Center reported.
