One of Atlanta’s favorite places for wet and wild fun has just been ranked high on the list of America’s best outdoor water parks.

USA Today readers ranked Six Flags Hurricane Harbor as the No. 3 outdoor water park, behind No. 1 pick Splashing Safari in Santa Clause, Indiana, and Lost Island Waterpark in Waterloo, Iowa, in second place.

USA Today offered up  some of America’s premier water parks and asked readers to determine which deserved the title as Best Outdoor Water Park 2017. The results for the 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards were announced Friday afternoon.

Encompassed in the greater Six Flags amusement park, the Caribbean-themed water park has given Atlantans and tourists a wet, adventurous summer since 2014. The water park’s “38,000-square-foot wave pool, the world's first zero-gravity hybrid single slide, a 2,000-square-foot interactive play area with six kid-sized slides and a 41-foot slide tower,” helped it top the list, according to the USA Today 10Best site.

Though it’s not the top spot, Six Flags officials are still quite proud of making it so high on the list, said said Six Flags spokesman Gene Petriello.

"Hurricane Harbor is the perfect summer water park oasis at Six Flags Over Georgia to cool off on world class water slides during the heat of summer in Georgia. Our guests always tell us they enjoy the massive 38,000 square foot wave pool with four foot waves and the interactive family water attractions at Paradise Island.”
