Grand jury to hear shooting case against Clayton Sheriff Victor Hill: Officials announced Thursday that the Gwinnett County case against Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill, who was arrested and charged with reckless conduct in May only three days after shooting and critially wounding a friend, will be presented to a grand jury. Grady releasing 1,000 rape kits withheld from law enforcement: An AJC investigation in June found that 1,500 of these rape kits piled up at Grady Memorial Hospital partly because it failed to report several of these crimes to the police. The hospital is now releasing over 1,000 packages of sex crime evidence that have been locked away since 2000. Read more.

Georgia finds no fault with group home after girls' escape, assault: A state investigation has found that Heritage House, the group home from which three teenage girls escaped, only to be sexually assaulted by a gang of men, is not to blame for the incident.
