Demetrius Stroud has been charged with murder in a February shooting that killed a 23-year-old father.

Investigators have charged a man with murder in the death of a 23-year-old father, shot at a southwest Atlanta gas station last month. But they need help finding the alleged killer, police said Wednesday.

Around 7:20 p.m. on Feb. 1, a 911 caller reported someone had been shot at a Sylvan Road Texaco, according to police. Officers found an unresponsive man, later identified as Trelle Deshawn Hough, in the parking lot.

Hough was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital but died from his injuries, police said. He was a father of three, including infant twins and a 1-year-old, according to an online fundraising page.

Investigators have not released a possible motive for the shooting, but later charged Demetrius Stroud with Hough’s murder. But Stroud has not been located, according to police.

About a year before the shooting, Stroud was released from prison after serving about seven months for obstruction, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. Then in April 2020, he was charged in Cobb County with entering autos and criminal intent and conspiracy to commit crime, records show. In May, Stroud was again in the Fulton County jail following an arrest on charges of theft, obstruction and giving a false name, booking records show.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or online. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
