Preparations for the Democratic debate in Atlanta are in full swing, and about 40 students from Georgia State University will be helping to get everything prepped and ready.

The students will be working behind the scenes with MSNBC, assisting with everything from lighting to sound and public relations to production.
The debate will take place on Wednesday, November 20 at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, and GSU students couldn't be happier to participate.
Before the event, Ada Wood, a political science and journalism major, stood in for the debate’s moderator to ensure that the lighting and camera angles were properly adjusted.

“It’s been both fun and informative on what it takes to pull off such a big event, from staff, to set design, to rehearsing camera angles — everything is top notch,” Wood said in a statement. “ It’s fascinating to be a part of the planning for the presidential debates, especially in a time in history where politics are so heated and passionate.”
Another GSU student, Keyerra Carmack, has hopes of becoming a television writer someday, and is in awe of the Tyler Perry Studios. “It’s inspiring because he was able to do so much and his studios are right here in Atlanta,” said Carmack.

The fifth democratic debate will feature 10 candidates and will be co-hosted by MSNBC and The Washington Post.
