The Georgia Department of Veterans Service will reopen its field offices Monday after this week's annual closure for staff training.

The week-long closure has become a tradition for the agency, which uses the time to keep employees up-to-date on their certification as well as any  federal changes governing veterans benefits.

That works includes everything from helping veterans determine their eligibility to finding documents required to support benefits claims.

Field service offices statewide have been closed since this past Monday as part of the effort, although the agency is maintaining contacts with veterans via a directory assistance line (404-656-2300) or online at www.veterans.georgia.gov/field-offices.
