The University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business moved up four spots on US News & World Report’s annual ranking of top business grad schools, but it still ranked only third in the state.

To determine the 2021 rankings of business schools, US News & World Reports surveyed all 477 MBA programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. Of those surveyed, 364 responded.

U.S. News ranked 131 schools because they provided "enough of the required data on their full-time MBA program and the full-time program's 2019 graduating class to calculate rankings, based on a weighted average of the indicators." You can read the full methodology including the indicators, here.

UGA's business college finished No. 33 nationwide in the ranking.

US News wrote: "Drawing from the Atlanta area's roots in hip hop, jazz, and R&B, the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia offers students a certificate program in music business. The music program is in addition to a variety of advanced degree offerings, which include Internet technology, marketing research, business administration, and accountancy. Additionally, a joint degree offering with the university's law school allows students to work on a J.D. and MBA simultaneously, completing both in four years instead of the typical five."

Two schools in Georgia ranked higher than Terry, however.

Scheller College of Business at Georgia Tech finished at No. 27.

US News wrote: “With small class sizes, the MBA program at the Scheller College of Business stresses a sense of community to go along with a flexible curriculum that promotes customization. Students are given the opportunity to focus on one area of business or gain a broad knowledge of many areas as they complete eight elective courses. Sitting in an epicenter of international business, Scheller promotes a global approach. MBA students are required to complete at least one elective with an international focus.”

The highest ranking school in Georgia made it into the top 25 nationwide. Goizueta Business School at Emory University finished No. 22 on US News' ranking.

Application deadline: March 9

Emory University's business school announced in December it had received its largest gift ever, $30 million, that will be used to create new learning initiatives and to enhance other educational programs. The money is coming from the Goizueta Foundation, which was created by the business school's namesake, Roberto C. Goizueta, former chairman and CEO of the Coca-Cola Co.
