He was a member of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office since September and leaves behind a wife and three young children, reports said.

The community was in mourning.

A fundraiser is underway to help the officer’s family.

The accident occurred at night on Maidendown Road in Marion County, north of Myrtle Beach, according to WPDE News 15. No other details were given about the circumstances that led to the fatalities. Police also have not revealed the identity of the other driver.

The Marion County coroner confirmed both deaths, according to FOX Carolina.

A Google Street View of the area shows an old country road with two lanes, running adjacent to Maidentown Bay, and surrounded by rural residences and farmland.

Price worked as an officer with the Dillon Police Department before joining Marion County.

“Deputy Price leaves behind a loving wife, and three small children. We ask you to keep all of us along with David’s family in your thoughts and prayers in the days to come,” the department posted on Facebook.
