Look for warmer temps to start sweeping into metro Atlanta this weekend.

A high pressure system that was anchored on Georgia’s northwest corner will shift east Saturday, making way for a warm front that could send temperatures hovering near the mid-70s by Sunday.

“That will allow the warmer temperatures to come on in,” said Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns.

Saturday will start with breezy overnight lows of 44 degrees in Atlanta. By mid-afternoon, the high for the day will be 68 with a 10% chance of showers, according to Burns.

“Not looking too bad here: upper 60s to the lower 70s,” he said. “Our average high is 70 this time of year, so we’re pretty close to where we should be.”

There will be a mix of clouds and sunshine Saturday to kick off spring break for Atlanta public schoolers, but there’s just a 10% chance of showers. The clouds should clear out overnight into Sunday, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon.

“Our dry stretch of weather will take us virtually all the way into early next week,” she said.
