On Thursday morning, syndicated radio and television hosts discussed T.I.’s recent revelation he joins his daughter for moral support at her annual gynecologist visit. His comments even drew the attention of reproductive health care nonprofit Planned Parenthood.

During an interview with "Ladies Like Us" podcast hosts Nazanin and Nadia, the hip-hop legend and "T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle" star revealed some of the ways he and his family keep a tight-knit bond.

When the “Ladies Like Us” hosts asked T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, whether he discusses sex with his daughters, he shared that he’s gone a step further than “the birds and the bees.” The rapper said he and his 18-year-old daughter Deyjah go to the gynecologist together.

“Not only have we had the conversation, we have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen,” T.I. said while chuckling.

He went on to explain that after her last two birthdays he lets the dust settle from the celebration and then sticks a Sticky Note on her door reminding her of the gynecology visit.

“So, we’ll go and sit down and the doctor will come and talk, and the doctor’s maintaining a high level of professionalism,” he told the podcast hosts. “He’s like, ‘You know, sir, I have to, in order to share information’ — I’m like, “Deyjah they want you to sign this so we can share information. Is there anything you wouldn’t want me to know?” Oh, OK. See doc, no problem.”

In a series of tweets Wednesday afternoon, Planned Parenthood’s Twitter account seemed to directly address the rapper’s comments. One tweet read: “Idk who needs to hear this but virginity is a made-up social construct, and it has absolutely nothing to do with your hymen.”

The tweet thread received nearly 4,000 retweets and more than 14,000 comments.

T.I.’s fatherly support was met with mixed reviews on Twitter on Wednesday.

During the interview, T.I. also spoke about how doing his VH1 reality show helped him better understand his six children, who all star on the show. His bond and understanding of his daughter Zonnique Pullins, 23, and sons Domani, 18, and Major, 11, were significantly enhanced by filming the show.
