Three relatives of an 11-year-old girl who gave birth in a bathtub are facing criminal charges.
All of the people charged in the crime are residents of St. Charles, Missouri.
Police began an investigation after a 17-year-old male brought an infant to the St. Joseph's Medical Center on Feb. 11. Hospital documents, according to Fox 4, show the baby still had the umbilical cord and placenta attached with a body temperature of 90 degrees.
That prompted a police investigation, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Initially, the man told the hospital someone dropped the infant off at his door. Later, he admitted he was a relative, and under later questioning by police, told police he had sex with the baby’s mother, an 11-year-old girl, about 100 times.
The suspect told police he did not know the girl was pregnant until she gave birth in her suburban St. Louis home.
Last week, the 17-year-old was charged with incest, statutory rape and sodomy of a child younger than 12. Police reports said the man was in the U.S. illegally and had previously been deported.
On Tuesday, another man and woman were charged were child endangerment. The woman is also accused of failing to provide medical care to the child upon giving birth.
