Atlanta police are trying to identify a man and woman they say broke into a gas station gambling coin machine and walked out with the cash box earlier this month.

Authorities released surveillance footage of the two Monday afternoon and are hoping the public can identify them. The video appears to show a woman wearing bright red pants and a black jacket entering a Chevron on Lakewood Avenue on Sept. 11 with a man wearing a blue Nike jacket and black mask following close behind.

The two then seem to go toward the back of the store and begin breaking into a coin machine around 6:20 a.m. The incident report states that the man was holding a black crowbar, which he then used to break into the coin machine.

Once the machine was damaged, one of the suspects appears to reach into it and grab the cash box. The two then head for the door, but before fleeing in an unknown vehicle, the man fired his gun twice, damaging the ceiling and cashier window frame, the report states.

The cashier who witnessed the incident told police the two had come into the store four hours earlier and gambled on a coin machine.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact the Atlanta Police Department’s Robbery Unit at 404-546-2555. Tipsters can remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
