A Decatur man was recently arrested after trying to meet and seduce someone he thought was 14 years old, authorities said.

The person he was actually messaging — and sending nude photos — was an undercover Fayetteville police officer, investigators said.

Jonathan Stephon Johnson, 35, faces two felonies after his arrest last Thursday, police spokeswoman Ann Marie Burdett told AJC.com. His charges include child exploitation and electronically furnishing obscene material to minors.

The undercover operation began June 26 when an undercover officer, who was posing as a 14-year-old girl online, began messaging Johnson, Burdett said. During a 13-day period, Johnson is accused of sending the officer multiple messages, including nude photos of himself.

He also requested the person, who he thought was a child, to send nude photos back to him, Burdett added. No explicit photos were sent to Johnson, but the officer agreed to meet with him after he requested they meet up for sex, according to police.

When they met at an undisclosed location, Johnson was arrested and booked into the Fayette County jail, Burdett said. He remained in custody Thursday afternoon on a $13,600 bond, jail records show.
