Storm damage in Roberta

Severe thunderstorms moving through the region damaged homes in Roberta, Ga., near Macon.

Johnny Moncrief pulls rubble away from his obliterated mobile home Monday morning after escaping with his wife and two children to their nearby parents' house three minutes before what appears to have been a tornado destroyed their home in Roberta in Crawford County, west of Macon.

Pictures gathered by members of the Moncrief family sit salvaged Monday after their home was destroyed Sunday night.

Willie Danielly's home was destroyed as he, his girlfriend and her grandchildren rode out the storm. She is in the hospital with injuries.

Margaret Howard, a friend of Willie Danielly's mother, surveys the destruction. Eight people were injured, two critically, in the county, authorities said.

The contents of Danielly's home lie strewn over the area. Nine buildings were destroyed, and several others damaged in the county, according to the Weather Service.

David Moncrief on Moncrief Road lost several trees, his barn roof was torn up and the roof of his brick home had several holes from Sunday night's storm.
