On Jan. 7, this dock at the East Bank Park of Lake Lanier remained unusable. Lake Lanier had risen nearly two feet as full rivers and streams poured in, but the lake's elevation was 1,055.16 feet above sea level -- still more than 13 feet below its average elevation.

In April 2009, Lake Lanier got a 1.4 foot boost after 3-5 inches of rain fell in North Georgia. The water level at Buford Dam was 1,060.5 feet above sea level, the highest point the lake had reached since Sept. 16, 2007. Full pool is 1,071 feet. This is a cove by the West Bank area at Buford Dam area.

On Wednesday, Oct. 21, the West Bank beach area was at 7 feet compared to April 2009. The Army Corps of Engineers will begin releasing water from Lanier to bring the reservoir's level down about 18 inches.

In April, the water level had increased by the dock at the East Bank Park area but not enough to get it floating.

On Wednesday, parts of the sidewalk area was submerged at Lake Lanier West Bank beach.
