News

In May 2003, rookie police officer Jeff Postell put Murphy, N.C., in the national spotlight when he captured longtime fugitive Eric Rudolph.

Sitting in front of Harting's appliance store in downtown Murphy, Ron Young, 70, reflected on the activity surrounding the town in the days after Rudolph was caught. When asked if this will be the talk of the town Young replied, "Yeah, probably forever."

In 2005, T-shirts with wanted posters, one for Osama Bin Laden, the other Eric Rudolph, were for in an antique store in Murphy.
