DeKalb County officials are trying to track down a “person of interest” in connection with a massive fire that engulfed an abandoned building near a shopping center Tuesday night.

Authorities released a video of an arson attempt at a Shell gas station that occurred minutes before the fire erupted at the former Reggie’s Salon on North Druid Hills Road. The station is located directly next door to the salon.

Investigators are trying to identify the person in the video and bring them in for questioning in hopes of getting information about the fire that happens moments later.

Investigators also released photos of a man they believe is the person seen lighting a gas station pump on fire in the video.

Around 9 p.m. Tuesday, shooting flames and thick, black smoke could be spotted coming from the abandoned salon that sits on the edge of the Toco Hills shopping center, DeKalb fire Capt. Dion Bentley confirmed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Crews had to go into defensive mode once arriving on the scene, officials said. When the fire was out, officials confirmed the building was vacant and no injuries were reported.

Authorities are asking that anyone with information on the person in the video or about how the fire at Reggie’s Salon began contact the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-282-5804. Tipsters may be eligible for a reward of up to $10,000.
