A man who survived a rollover crash on the Downtown Connector was killed Tuesday morning when he hopped a median and was struck by oncoming traffic, police said.

The investigation shut down the interstate in both directions from about midnight until authorities cleared the scene shortly before 3:30 a.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

Atlanta police said the victim got out of his vehicle after crashing and flipping in the northbound lanes near Langford Parkway. He then crossed the median wall on foot and was hit by a vehicle going south, according to a police spokesman.

The victim, whose name was not released, was dead when police responded shortly after midnight.

“No charges are anticipated in this collision,” the spokesman said in a statement.
