One of the victims of a shooting at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte has been identified by a family member.
The Alpha Tau Omega fraternity shared a photo of Drew Pescaro, who was one of the four students shot but not killed in Tuesday's shooting. He is receiving medical treatment at Carolinas Medical Center.
Pescaro is originally from Massachusetts, and Boston's WFXT spoke with one of his cousins Tuesday evening.
The cousin told WFXT that Pescaro grew up in Rutland and Shrewsbury before moving to North Carolina with his parents and three brothers about 10 years ago.
Pescaro's girlfriend was reportedly by his side at the hospital, where he underwent surgery.
"What we know is that he spoke to his mother on the way to the hospital. His parents live about two hours from the campus. The fact that he was able to talk to his mother was pretty reassuring," his cousin told WFXT.

Family members told WSOC-TV reporter Joe Bruno that as of late Tuesday night, Pescaro was out of surgery and had a long road ahead, but is expected to survive.
