Starbucks offering to pay employees for volunteer services
Starbucks is partnering with Points of Light to launch a new program that will pay Starbucks employees to do good with nonprofits in their communities.
The program is called Starbucks Service Fellows.
It's being launched as a six-month pilot program, Starbucks said in a release Thursday.
Thirty-six Starbucks employees in 13 cities around the country, including Seattle, will participate.
Participating employees will be paid by partner Points of Light.
The fellows will serve:
- HandsOn Atlanta
- HandsOn Bay Area
- Boston Cares
- HandsOn Broward, FL
- Chicago Cares
- VolunteerNow (Dallas)
- Volunteer Fairfax
- Volunteer Houston
- HandsOn Miami
- HandsOn Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul)
- HandsOn Greater Phoenix
- Seattle Works
- United Way of Greater St. Louis
Participating Starbucks employees will spend up to 20 hours each week doing good with nonprofits in their communities.
“Our Service Fellows program is an innovative approach that combines work, service and partnerships, a model that will inform how we catalyze our partners and grantees to create enduring change in our communities," Virginia Tenpenny, vice president of global social impact at Starbucks, said in a release issued Thursday.
