Joan Bremer was almost seven weeks along when she had a miscarriage.

While she recovered, Bremer searched for a design that would help her mark her grief. She decided on a line connecting two hearts and had the ink done a few days after she lost the baby.

She told "The Today Show" that she will add a rainbow tattoo if she carries a baby to term. The term "rainbow babies" reffers to babies who are conceived after a loss. If she has another miscarriage, she plans to add a second heart, 'Today' reported.

Women have shared their miscarriage tattoos on Pinterest and other social media platforms.
