Mother: Murdered daughter's car sold while held for evidence

A mother already mourning over the murder of her daughter and unborn grandchild says Tulsa police have let her down when they released a piece of evidence.

Marshay Wesson was found dead inside her car in June 2012, and now someone is driving that same car around on Tulsa’s streets.

Marshay’s mother, Renee Wesson, said her daughter’s killer has never been arrested and the district attorney is telling police to find more evidence before they make an arrest and go to trial. Wesson believes more evidence could have been in the car.

Marshay Wesson’s Chevy Impala was held at Storey Wrecker as evidence, but Renee Wesson said she logged onto Facebook and saw that someone who knows her daughter was driving the bloodied vehicle.

Tulsa Police Homicide Sergeant Dave Walker said he signed off to release the car, because he said the district attorney was not going to file charges in the case.

Walker said someone in the department should have notified Renee Wesson so she could come pick the car up before it became Storey’s property, who later sold it.

He said Marshay’s case is not ruined, and they took all evidence from the car.

Walker said city legal representatives can get involved with the case, and maybe the city can pay Renee what the car was worth, but the victim’s mother said she it is not about the money. She just wants investigators to find her daughter’s killer.
