A Lyft driver in Arizona is accused of sexually assaulting a customer after dropping her off at her Maricopa home Sunday morning, KNXV reported.
Rayan Jarjes, 43, was charged with kidnapping, sexual assault and sexual abuse. He remains in custody in the Pinal County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond, according to KTVK.
According to the Maricopa Police Department, Jarjes picked the victim up at a friend's house around 3:15 a.m. to take her home, KNXV reported. Police said Jarjes stopped his vehicle two times. According to the victim, the first time the car was stopped, Jarjes "gave her a kiss and bit her lips," according to a criminal complaint.
The second time Jarjes stopped the car, the victim said the man "placed her head on his lap" according to the criminal complaint.
According to investigators, Jarjes later admitted to "several" of the allegations, KTVK reported.
In an emailed statement to KNXV, Lyft officials called the allegations 'abhorrent."
"Safety is fundamental to Lyft and we have absolutely no tolerance for this behavior in our community," the Lyft spokesman said in the statement. "Upon learning of the incident, we permanently banned the driver and we are actively assisting law enforcement with their investigation."
