 Roof reportedly confessed to shooting and killing the group at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, multiple outlets including CNN and NBC are reporting.

He had sat with the victims during Bible study before opening fire, The New York Daily News reported.

Roof was captured in North Carolina Thursday morning and was returned to South Carolina.

He's been charged with nine counts of murder and possession of a firearm charge according to the Charleston Police Department.
