In addition to Jasmine and Tiana, Johnson has a 19-year-old daughter named Simone Alexandra Johnson from a previous marriage. He did not mention her when saying his family tested positive.

“I could tell you that this has been one of the most challenging and difficult things we have ever had to endure as a family, and for me, too, personally as well,” he said, ranking it higher than injuries he’s had in the wrestling ring.

“My number one priority is to always protect my family,” he said.

Johnson, 48, said he and his family are “good” and “on the other end” of the illness, adding that they are healthy and “no longer contagious.”

“We’ve gotten through COVID-19 stronger and healthier,” he said.

Johnson said he and his family contracted the virus from close friends and family who don’t know where they got the illness.

“They’re devastated that it led to them infecting our family, but luckily we were able to control it and mitigate it, and it didn’t spread out of control, but they like us have been incredibly disciplined,” Johnson said, referring to efforts the family took to limit exposure to the virus.

He added that he and his family have diligently worn masks and have been isolating and remained in quarantine.

Johnson said he and his family will be implementing new rules following the diagnosis, and encouraged followers to have guests tested the day before they visit and turn them away if they test positive.

The actor used the announcement to remind people to stay alert as the pandemic continues.

“Stay disciplined. Boost your immune system. Commit to wellness. Wear your mask. Protect your family. Be strict about having people over your house or gatherings. Stay positive. And care for your fellow human beings. Stay healthy, my friends,” he captioned the post.

More than 6.1 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the United States at the time of this story’s publication. More than 185,000 people in the country have died from the virus.
