Two people are dead and another was injured after a shooting at a Rhode Island assisted/senior living home in a seaside town.

The shooting happened Thursday morning in Westerly, Rhode Island, according to an NBC reporter. Police said the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after the shooting at the Babcock apartment complex.

Westerly police told NBC News local schools were also locked down after the incident. The shooting scene was declared no longer active around 1:30 p.m.

Babcock Village is, according to the Providence Journal, a federally assisted senior housing complex.

Rhode Island Breaking News Service reported three victims.

Westerly Hospital was also locked down during the investigation.

Westerly is a beachfront town on the southwestern shore of Washington County, Rhode Island, with a population of about 23,000.
