A Minnesota man is accused of using a butcher knife to kill his longtime friend after a night of drinking and eating marijuana gummies, KARE reported.

Daniel Kevin Johnson, 62, of Hopkins, was charged with second-degree murder in the Friday stabbing death of Clayton John Kartak, 66, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office. He is being held in lieu of a $1 million bond.

Police in Hopkins said they responded to an apartment building around 10:30 p.m., where witnesses told them a man was knocking on doors while holding a large, bloody knife, WCCO reported. Officers said they found

Johnson, apparently unconscious, lying on the floor of the hallway with the knife near his feet, the television station reported.

Police found Kartak with a cut to his throat and stab wounds to his torso, KARE reported.

A test revealed Johnson's blood alcohol concentration was .18, WCCO reported. According to the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety, the legal limit in the state is .08.
