An Atlanta high school student was fatally shot Monday night.

The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man shot outside an apartment building in the 2500 block of Etheridge Drive as Markeith Williams, 19.

The Atlanta Public School System identified Williams as a student at APS’ Alonzo A. Crim Open Campus High School.

Police said they responded to a call about 9:45 p.m. Monday and found the victim shot in the head.

Williams was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Homicide investigators are investigating. Their preliminary investigation showed the shooting occurred outside an apartment building, police said.
