A man facing DUI and vehicular homicide charges from a 2011 wreck in Covington was arrested again Sunday and ordered back to jail Thursday.
Ricky Todd Guice, 39, was booked into the Newton County jail just before noon and has no bond, according to jail records.
While out on bond in connection with the 2011 wreck, Guice was arrested Sunday in Covington after allegedly rear-ending a vehicle that stopped at a traffic light on Ga. 278, according to Channel 2 Action News. Within hours, he was out on bond again, and that infuriated the family of Sarah Maddox Belcher, the woman he’s accused of killing in August 2011. Belcher’s family was in favor of Guice’s bond revocation and contacted the Newton County District Attorney’s Office after they found out about Guice’s most recent arrest.
“We feel like this is a small victory for the family,” Belcher’s daughter-in-law, Angela Jackson-Belcher, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Now we’re waiting for the trial.”
The trial is currently scheduled for Nov. 3, Johnson-Belcher said.
According to Channel 2, Guice has a history of DUI-related arrests. Weeks before he was arrested in connection with the death of 74-year-old Sarah Maddox Belcher, he’d bonded out of jail in June after a DUI citation.
