Investigators in DeKalb County arrested a man they say pretended to be a police officer and sexually assaulted a woman while in uniform.

Christopher Griggs of Lithonia was arrested Monday on charges of impersonating an officer and misdemeanor sexual battery.

Few details were released about the alleged assault, but DeKalb police said Griggs wore tactical gear and a badge when he approached the victim. He also was carrying a gun, the agency said in a tweet.

DeKalb police confirmed Griggs is not a police officer. It is not clear how he acquired the tactical gear, badge and gun, or if investigators believe he had other alleged victims.

He was booked into the DeKalb County Jail, records show.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact DeKalb police at 770-724-7710.
