61-year-old hit, killed in Cobb County

The pedestrian struck and killed Thursday night has been identified as a 61-year-old Smyrna man, Cobb County police said Friday afternoon.
Dennis Michael Smith died at the scene when he walked on Mableton Parkway at Boggs Road and was struck by a car, according to Sgt. Dana Pierce.
Ariel Britton, 26, was driving a 2011 Toyota Corolla southbound when Smith walked in front of her car, Pierce said.
Britton, of Powder Springs, was not injured and is not expected to face charges, Pierce said.
Earlier Friday, police asked for help in identifying Smith, but the county medical examiner's office later confirmed his identification.
