Apparently upset about a reduction in work hours, an employee shot the manager at a fast-food restaurant in Clayton County early Saturday before killing himself.

The manager was shot in the leg, and Clayton police spokesman Tim Owens described her injuries as nonlife-threatening.

The shooting occurred about 5 a.m. at the Krystal restaurant on Ga. 138 in Stockbridge, Owens said.

The manager and an employee were preparing to open the restaurant when the employee apparently got upset with the manager over a reduction in work hours, Owens said.

He said the employee shot the manager in the leg, then turned the gun on himself.

Owens said the employee, whose name was being withheld until relatives could be notified, later died.

The manager was taken to a local hospital.

The same restaurant was the site of a shooting in July.

In the July incident a manager, Cheryl Alphabet, was critically wounded.

A recently fired employee, Marquet Sherman Donald, 21, of Hampton, was charged in the July shooting with aggravated assault, aggravated assault against a police officer, numerous counts of armed robbery, kidnapping, felony obstruction and motor vehicle theft.

The wounded officer, Matthew Whitton, was shot in the wrist during a struggle over the officer's gun.
