The Woodstock City Council has approved a $260,000 project to repair and resurface its primary downtown parking lot, along with improvements to “increase public acceptance and usage” of the facility.

Plans for the City Center Parking Lot renovation call for resurfacing, repairing and re-striping the asphalt; an 8-foot-wide sidewalk from the Trolley Stop to the western edge of the lot; new lighting, signage and landscaping including four lighted planters; the creation of 10 additional parking spaces; and closing the middle entrance and widening the easternmost and westernmost entrances.

“These improvements are a component of a larger design for the downtown district to enhance pedestrian and vehicular traffic flows while enlarging the streetscape ambiance of the district,” staff said in a report to the council.

The project would be paid for out of city Tax Allocation District funds.
