A 79-year-old woman was killed Friday in a two-car crash in Powder Springs, Cobb County police say.

The collision was reported around 1:57 p.m. Sept. 13 on Powder Springs Road near Hopkins Road.

The police department said in a press release that a blue 2010 Ford Fusion was traveling westbound in the left lane while a black 2010 Ford Fusion was leaving a business at 3460 Powder Springs Road.

Cobb police say the black car exited the business’s driveway and “entered the path” of the blue Ford Fusion. The blue Fusion hit the driver’s side of the black Ford passenger vehicle.

Madison Karr, 19, the driver of the blue Fusion, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital and treated for minor injuries. The driver of the black Ford  Fusion, 79-year-old Carol Boyd, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cobb police say the accident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call 770-499-3987.
