Any gift-wrapping paper you were hoping to get rid of on Christmas will have to wait a day or more.

The city of Atlanta will delay trash pickup a day for the holiday and again the following week for New Year’s Day, officials announced in a news release Thursday. Residents whose trash collection day is Friday will receive pick up on Saturday, Dec. 29 and Jan. 4.

The city also announced dates and times for its Bring One for the Chipper Christmas tree recycling event on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Decorations, plastic wrap, flocking and tinsel cannot be on the tree.
