Parents and students have a little extra time to do some back-to-school shopping this year.

Atlanta Public Schools starts classes on Aug. 12. Last year, the school district decided to start 12 days later than they have in recent years.

The school district has started on Aug. 1 for the past two years.

And in case you’re looking to make vacation plans around the school year, here is the full school calendar:

Aug. 12 – First Day of School

Sept. 2 – Labor Day

Oct. 14- Columbus Day

Oct. 15 – Teacher Professional Learning Day

Nov. 2 – Teacher Professional Learning Day/Election Day

Nov. 25-29 – Thanksgiving Break

Dec. 20 – Last Day of the Fall Semester

Dec. 23-Jan 2. – Winter Break

Jan. 3 – Teacher Professional Learning Day

Jan. 6 – First Day of Spring Semester

Jan. 20 – Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

Feb. 17 – Teacher Professional Learning Day

March 16 – Teacher Professional Learning Day

April 6-10 – Spring Break

May 20 – Last Day of School

Students do not have to report to class on holidays or teacher professional learning days.
