Water is running again at Mountain View High School Friday after a water main break left the school water the day before, authorities said.

“Today when our folks arrived at our school the water was back on and it was back to business as usual,” said Jorge Quintana, spokesman for Guinnett County schools.

The school district worked with county officials to activate a water interruption plan early Thursday morning when teachers arriving at school discovered the problem.

“What we did was we had two (large water trucks), and they each can hold up to 500 gallons of water, that brought in water which was used for the AC unit to work and to replenish water for restrooms,” Quintana said.

Quintana said 30 coolers of bottled water were brought in and placed around the school for the students to have drinking water. The county worked with the school to replenish water provisions throughout the day, Quintana said.

The Mill Creek Plantation neighborhood was also without water Thursday, officials said.

The water main break occured around 5 a.m. Thursday on Sunny Hill Road in Gwinnett County. Water service was restored by early Friday morning.

Sunny Hill Road from Lena Carter and Gravel Springs roads were closed during the repairs.
