Marietta police won't say if the man accused of driving a woman to three different locations and raping her each time before crashing her van is a suspect in other crimes.
Public records have provided the most detail for why 27-year-old Andrew Head has been in Cobb County Jail since Sunday.
In response to questions by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Friday, Marietta police spokesman Officer Charles McPhilamy said the department has to “limit the amount of information that is available until after prosecution is finished.”
More information about the case could come to light at Head’s next scheduled hearing in magistrate court on Aug. 23.
What is known from documents is that Head approached the woman from behind about 2:30 a.m. at 1140 Roswell Road, which is a strip mall plaza. Police declined to say why she was there at that hour. Head lives less than 1,000 feet away.
According to a police warrant, he choked her and demanded all her money. She gave him $80, and then he forced her into her van.
He drove her a half-mile to Banberry Road, a neighborhood road between Freys Gin Road and Interstate 75, according to the warrant. He made a bed out of blankets in the back of her van and raped her.
Head drove a third of a mile to 180 Cobb Parkway, near the Walmart in the Marietta Trade Center. He raped her in the parking lot, the warrant said.
Three-quarters of a mile away in the parking lot of the Hong Kong Buffet on South Marietta Parkway, he raped her again, the warrant said.

According to Channel 2 Action News, Head and the woman walked into a Texaco about 900 feet away from the buffet. Inside, the woman locked herself in a bathroom and yelled to a store clerk for help before calling 911.
“Send some police out here. I just got kidnapped ... He’s taken off in my van. Just send the police!” she said on a recording of the 911 call obtained via an open records request by Channel 2 Action News.
The woman told a dispatcher she’d never seen Head before.
Head sped off and led police on a chase before crashing the victim’s van into an Acura driven by a 50-year-old woman on South Cobb Drive near Walker Street, police said. The woman wasn’t seriously injured.
Police released about eight minutes of dashcam footage, part of which shows Head almost crashing the van head-on into one of its officers.
Head has previously been arrested on battery and shoplifting charges, Cobb court records show.
He remains in jail without bond.
