Looking for something a little different to do this weekend in Gwinnett County? Try a few of these unique events -- everything from bed races to exotic birds -- on for size.

Lawrenceville's 7th Annual Bed Race: Each year, Gwinnettians take to the streets of downtown Lawrenceville for this interesting twist on a soapbox derby -- their "cars" are literally fashioned out of beds. The event benefits Family Promise of Gwinnett, which helps homeless families.

The festivities begin bright and early Saturday morning, with bed judging at 10 a.m., a parade at 10:30 a.m. and races at 11 a.m.

Braselton's Antique and Artisan Festival: Saunter through all the antiques, vintage furniture, local artwork and jewelry while enjoying live music and food. Runs from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Located at 115 Harrison St. in Braselton.

Suwanee's Spring into Color 5K Dash: Support the Georgia Green Industry Association and "show your colors" in this 5K. The race starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at Suwanee Town Center.

Taste of Lilburn: Foodies and families alike should stop this event, scheduled for 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Lilburn City Park. Food from 1910 Public House, Taqueria los Hermanos, The Barn Smokehouse and Seafood and much, much more will be on hand.

Exotic bird fair in Norcross: The North Atlanta Trade Center in Norcross will host "north Atlanta's only exotic bird fair" from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Kids 12 and under are free. The trade center is locatetd at 1700 Jeurgens Court.
