Union Hill Road at Mill Creek in eastern Cherokee County will be closed to through traffic for eight months beginning Monday, April 13, as crews replace a bridge over the creek, the county Roadway Capital Program announced.

The closure will be in effect through Dec. 18. It is in the vicinity of Union Hill and Marvin Land Lane, which also will be closed to through traffic. While construction is under way, a detour will be posted, 7.9 miles long, utilizing East Cherokee Drive and Lower Union Hill Road.

"Cherokee County appreciates the public's patience during the detour period and requests that motorists obey the detour for their safety as well as for the safety of all contractors' personnel," the county said. Information: 678-493-6077 or https://bit.ly/2R1hihB
