Two Smyrna women died in a three-car crash Wednesday night, according to Cobb County police.

Carol Godard, 66, was driving with 79-year-old Margaret Elson in the passenger seat when Godard lost control of a Saturn SL2 and crossed over the center median. The Saturn collided head-on with a Nissan Altima and then a Honda Civic, police said in a news release. Godard and Elson both died, police said.

Sgt. Wayne Delk, police spokesman, said no charges are expected because it appears Godard was at fault.

The crash happened about 9:45 p.m. on the East West Connector, just east of the Concord Road overpass.

The drivers of the other two vehicles, ages 37 and 18, were taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with minor injuries.
