DeKalb County plans to reduce part of a busy road down to one lane later this week to replace an aging water main.

Drivers can expect delays in both directions on Glenwood Road in the area near Shoal Creek Park and Glenwood Hills Park from Wednesday morning to Saturday evening.

Crews are planning to close down three lanes of Glenwood between Ridgeland and Parkhill drives, the county said in a statement Monday. Work will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

The lanes will be closed as the county's Department of Watershed Management works on the Glendale Water Main Replacement Project.

DeKalb is replacing nearly 5,800 feet of an old 36-inch transmission main, the county said. The main supplies drinking water for DeKalb.

There will be signs installed near the street closure and officials in place to help drivers make it through.
