Work on 16 townhomes located near the famed Manuel’s Tavern are expected to be complete in late 2020, Selig Enterprises said in a news release.
The townhomes, called 550 North Highland, will have three- and four-bedroom plans that average 2,400 square-foot each, according to the release. The town homes will also have partially covered rooftop patios.
Prices on the homes have not been released. Construction on the residential space, which sits on a former parking lot of the popular Pouncey-Highland bar, began last month.

“Manuel’s Tavern is an Atlanta institution,” said Selig’s Chief Operating and Development Officer Steve Baile in a statement. “When we were approached to help continue the legacy of the tavern and also have the opportunity to build new homes in the walkable, vibrant Poncey-Highland neighborhood, we knew it was a great opportunity.”
Selig purchased the land, including the site of the existing Manuel’s Tavern in 2015, when the popular bar needed a series of upgrades.
As part of the development, Selig will widen sidewalks in the area, improve landscaping, replant trees and improve street lighting, according to the release. They will also realign Williams Mill Road and install a crosswalk for a parking lot near Manuel’s Tavern.
The company will also add a large patio to the tavern.
