Cumberland Christian Academy, established in 1989 in south Cobb, has changed its operational name to The Cumberland School - Pursuing Excellence in Christian Education.
The existing logo has been redesigned to include a compass pointing to true North, “a reference to our need for direction and guidance from Jesus Christ, with a cross added at the center,” according to a statement by the school’s Board Chairman Boyd Wages.
This rebranding coincides with the relocation and Aug. 6 opening of a new eighth-through-twelfth grade campus at 4967 Brownsville Road, Powder Springs, the former home of Youth Baptist Church and Youth Christian School.
Also, a new Sixth-Seventh Grade Middle School Academy will open this year at 4900 Floyd Road SW, Mableton, according to Dr. Byron R. Greene, executive director of The Cumberland School.
The Lower School for K3 through fifth grade will continue to be located at 2356 Clay Road SW, Austell.
The business office is at 5350 Holloman Road, Powder Springs, the former site of Sun Valley Beach.
Cumberland’s founding headmaster is Dr. Larry F. Kendrick who retired in 2011.
