Tennis courts, soccer fields get new surfaces in Forsyth

Forsyth County Parks & Recreation expects to end the summer with newly resurfaced tennis courts at Fowler Park and freshly installed synthetic turf on the soccer fields at Central Park.

Twelve stadium-lighted courts are scheduled to be resurfaced Aug. 15-Sept. 5 at Fowler Park, 4110 Carolene Way. Six courts will be resurfaced at a time, so some will remain open for tennis programs and public play, a Forsyth spokeswoman said. The county awarded the $60,670 job to Advanced Athletic Surfaces.

Meanwhile, Sprinturf of Atlanta is expected to finish by the end of August a $790,125 project to apply artificial turf to two soccer fields at Central Park, 2300 Keith Bridge Road. The covering is for a 360-by-380 area next to the football field, which already has synthetic turf.

In May, Central Park's eight lighted tennis courts were resurfaced, and they now open for play. Southeastern Tennis Courts was responsible for that $45,950 project.
